A-level economics tutor based near Marlborough, Wiltshire

I’m Richard Clark. I hold a BA and MSc in economics, together with a PGCE, and previously taught economics in both state and independent schools, including Westminster School.

I then spent more than 30 years applying economics in government, business and market research. I now use that experience to tutor AQA and Edexcel A-Level students.

From the classroom to professional economics

After graduating from the University of Warwick with a BA in Economics and a PGCE, I began my career teaching economics in state and independent schools, including Westminster School. I later completed an MSc in Economics at the University of York.

I then moved into roles where economics, data and communication were applied in practice. At Transport for London, J. Walter Thompson (a major international advertising agency), and the International Wool Secretariat, I worked on economic analysis, econometrics and explaining evidence to decision-makers.

For more than 25 years, I also ran a market research consultancy, helping organisations including the Scottish Government, Welsh Government, L’Oréal, Diageo and Unilever understand markets, behaviour and decision-making.

That combination of teaching and professional experience now informs my work as an A-Level Economics tutor.

My approach to tuition

Every student is different. Some need help understanding difficult concepts; others understand the theory but need support with essay writing, analysis, evaluation and exam technique.

My lessons are tailored to each student, focusing on the areas that will make the greatest difference to their understanding, confidence and performance.

I aim to be clear, encouraging and practical, while keeping lessons closely focused on the AQA or Edexcel course the student is studying.

Outside the classroom

I live near Marlborough in Wiltshire with my wife, Sarah.

Outside my tutoring work, I enjoy following economics, financial markets and current affairs. I also enjoy spending time with my family and exploring the Wiltshire countryside.
