A-level economics tutor based near Marlborough, Wiltshire
I’m Richard Clark. I hold a BA and MSc in economics, and a PGCE, and have spent my career teaching and applying economics in education, government, business and market research.
Today, I use that experience to help AQA and Edexcel students understand not only what happens in economics, but why it happens—and how to explain it clearly in examinations.
About Richard
From the classroom to professional economics
After graduating from the University of Warwick with a BA in Economics and a PGCE, I began my career teaching economics in state and independent schools, including Westminster School. I later completed an MSc in economics at the University of York.
I then moved into roles where economics, data and communication were applied in the real world. At Transport for London, J. Walter Thompson and the International Wool Secretariat, I worked on economic analysis, econometrics and explaining evidence to decision-makers.
For more than 25 years, I also ran a market research consultancy, helping organisations including the Scottish Government, Welsh Government, L’Oréal, Diageo and Unilever understand markets, behaviour and decision-making.
That combination of teaching and professional experience shapes my tuition today. I help students connect economic ideas to the real world while developing the knowledge, analysis and exam technique needed for A-level success.

Outside the classroom
I live near Marlborough in Wiltshire with my wife, Sarah.
Outside my tutoring work, I enjoy following economics, financial markets and current affairs. I also enjoy spending time with my family and exploring the Wiltshire countryside.
Keeping up with economic news allows me to bring fresh, relevant examples into lessons and help students connect classroom theory with events happening around the world.
